Wetherspoons is set to open 13 new pubs, including four in holiday parks, despite rising costs and calls for tax changes from the boss.
Four of these new spots will be in Haven Holiday parks, which is great news for holidaymakers. Tim Martin, the Wetherspoons boss, is pushing for the government to cut taxes on pub food. He’s worried about rising costs, especially with National Insurance going up soon.
Martin mentioned that Wetherspoons could face an extra £60 million in costs starting April 2025. He believes that supermarkets have an unfair advantage because they don’t pay VAT on food sales, while pubs do.
He’s calling on Sir Keir Starmer to help level the playing field. The new pubs will be in places like Manchester Airport, Fulham, Bath, and more. So, if you’re in those areas, keep an eye out for the new Wetherspoons!
