Southport: Axel Rudakubana, a teenager, has been sentenced to 52 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to murdering three young girls during a dance class. The incident happened at The Hart Space on July 29. The victims were Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven.

Rudakubana, just days shy of his 18th birthday, also attempted to harm eight other children and two adults. The judge noted it’s unlikely he’ll ever be released. The court heard horrific details about the attacks, including that Bebe was stabbed 122 times.

The prosecution described how the girls were attacked in a shocking rampage. Bebe was found outside the studio, while Elsie was discovered just inside the door. Alice managed to escape but later died from her injuries.

Rudakubana also faced charges for possessing a knife and a biological toxin. He had bought the knife online and had disturbing materials at home. The Prime Minister spoke about the need to address the rising threat of violence from individuals like Rudakubana.

In the aftermath, there were protests and unrest across the country, with many arrests made. The community held a vigil for the victims, but tensions flared in some areas. This tragic event has left a deep scar on the nation.
