Rolls-Royce has secured a new warehouse in Derby to support its growing submarine division, enhancing its manufacturing capabilities and local economy.
Derby: Rolls-Royce just got the keys to a new warehouse at Indurent Park. This place is close to Pride Park and Wyvern Retail Park. The new space is huge, about 148,000 square feet. It’s all about boosting their submarine manufacturing operations.
They’re doubling the size of their Raynesway site. This expansion comes after they landed a deal to supply nuclear power plants for AUKUS submarines. Terry Meighan, the infrastructure director, mentioned that the project was completed safely and on time.
He said this facility is crucial for their redevelopment plans. It’s the first major build they’ve finished. The Indurent team worked closely with Rolls-Royce to make sure everything met their needs. They even enhanced the floor loading to support heavy parts.
Plus, they installed a massive 12-meter-high door and a crane with a 100-ton capacity. The facility also has solar panels on the roof for power generation. This helps cut down on energy costs.
Rob Richardson, the development director at Indurent, expressed pride in handing over this state-of-the-art facility. He highlighted that Rolls-Royce is a leader in manufacturing innovation.
Having Rolls-Royce at Indurent Park adds to the high-tech businesses in Derby. It shows how important it is to have versatile industrial spaces for growth. This development will create jobs and boost the local economy.
Indurent Park is a new 50-acre hub for high-tech R&D and logistics. It’s already home to big names like Vaillant and Getinge. Kia also has its training base for electric vehicles there.
Previously, this area was known as St Modwen Park Derby. Last July, St Modwen Logistics merged with another firm to create Indurent. This new company has a massive portfolio of industrial space across the country.
