Long Eaton: Derbyshire police are sounding the alarm about vehicle crime. They’ve noticed a recent uptick in incidents, which has everyone on edge. To tackle this, they’re boosting patrols and sharing tips online.

Interestingly, vehicle crime had been on the decline. It dropped by 27% from 2023 to 2024. But since mid-January, things have changed. The police are now on high alert.

Inspector Matt Ladd is leading the charge. He mentioned that the spike in crime has prompted more visible and undercover patrols. They want to catch the bad guys and reassure the community.

He emphasized that they can’t do it alone. They need the community’s help to report anything suspicious. The police have also been sharing crime prevention tips on their Facebook page.

Since January 15, the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team has posted six helpful tips for drivers. Inspector Ladd encourages everyone to check them out and talk to officers if they have concerns.
