Ofsted praises a Derbyshire primary school, highlighting its welcoming atmosphere and ambitious goals for students
Darley Churchtown: Parents are thrilled with their local primary school. Ofsted just gave it a glowing report. They found the school is “good” in every area.
This small school has about 50 pupils. It offers a broad and challenging curriculum. The environment is positive, and strong relationships are key here. Parents feel their kids are in great hands.
One parent even said, “I couldn’t wish for a better school for my children.” That says a lot! The executive head teacher, Ben O’Connell, is proud of the team’s hard work.
He mentioned that they aim to show every student they can achieve. The inspectors noticed their high expectations and ambitions. They’re already planning to build on this positive feedback.
Reading is a big focus for the school. The report highlights how they’ve mapped out key knowledge and vocabulary. This helps kids grow their skills over time.
From basic writing in early years to advanced grammar, they’re set up for success. Plus, students with special needs get the support they need quickly. Caring staff help them gain confidence and independence.
Inspectors also loved how the curriculum broadens students’ understanding of the world. They learn about British values in history and explore diverse texts in reading.
Visits to places of worship help deepen their understanding of different faiths. Dr. Sarah Clark, the CEO of the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust, praised the team for their dedication.
Ofsted doesn’t give an overall grade anymore, but this school got “good” in all five categories. That’s a fantastic achievement!
