Mr Beast is in talks to buy TikTok, joining other billionaires in a high-stakes bid to save the platform from a potential ban in the U.S.
According to Bloomberg, Mr Beast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is part of a group that made a cash offer to save TikTok. This comes after President Trump gave TikTok a 75-day extension to sort things out or face a ban in the U.S.
Jesse Tinsley, a tech entrepreneur, is also in the running. He’s been named as a key investor in this group of wealthy folks. But the exact amount they offered? That’s still a mystery.
Mr Beast has been vocal about wanting to buy TikTok. Back in January, he even tweeted he’d do it to prevent a ban. He’s been chatting with other billionaires about this too.
Trump thinks TikTok is worth around $1 trillion, but it’s unclear if the current owners, ByteDance, are actually considering selling.
Other big names like Elon Musk and Amazon are also eyeing TikTok. Trump mentioned he wouldn’t mind seeing Musk make a bid.
Musk has been against banning TikTok, saying it goes against free speech. But he also pointed out the imbalance of TikTok operating in the U.S. while X can’t in China.
Mr Beast is a social media giant with over 500 million followers. At just 26, he’s already worth about $1 billion. Talk about impressive!
