The Met Office has issued a weather warning for the East Midlands, predicting heavy rain and potential power cuts this weekend
East Midlands: The Met Office has put out a weather warning for heavy rain. Some areas might get up to 80mm of rain. This warning starts at 8am on Sunday.
It follows an amber wind warning from Storm Éowyn on Friday. The rain is expected to hit central and southern England, plus much of Wales, on Sunday morning.
A Met Office spokesperson mentioned that most places will see 10-20mm of rain. In some high areas, it could reach 30-50mm. There’s a chance of more heavy rain on Sunday evening.
With all this rain, there’s a risk of surface water and river flooding. So, what can you expect? There’s a slight chance of power cuts and service disruptions.
Some homes and businesses might face flooding, which could damage buildings. If flooding happens, train and bus services might be delayed or canceled.
Driving could get tricky due to spray and flooding, leading to road closures. And there’s a small chance of fast-flowing water posing a danger to life.
