Belfast: The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the weekend. Storm Eowyn is on its way, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.

This warning starts at midnight on Friday and lasts until midday Saturday. Most of Northern Ireland and western Scotland, including Glasgow, will feel the storm’s impact.

The winds could cause damage to buildings and lead to power cuts. Travel disruptions are also expected, affecting roads, rail, and airports.

Wintry weather is likely too, with rain and strong winds arriving on Thursday night. It’s a big change from the calm, cloudy weather we’ve had earlier this week.

Met Office spokeswoman Andrea Bishop warned that Storm Eowyn could be disruptive. She advised everyone to stay updated with the latest forecasts.

The storm is expected to pass through the northwest of the UK on Friday, moving northeast by Saturday. Winds could reach up to 80 mph in some areas, especially in western Scotland.

The Met Office has expanded its warnings, now including more regions. They expect the winds to ease starting from the south on Saturday.

So, hold onto your hats! More weather warnings might be on the way as we head into the weekend and next week.
