Sarah Day shares her struggle with alcoholism after years of drinking with millionaires
At just 46, she was downing eight bottles of wine daily, starting her day at 5 am. It all began when she was 15, enjoying nights out with friends. But by 21, her career as a personal trainer and later a PA meant lots of social drinking.
What started as fun quickly became a necessity. Sarah found herself needing wine to get through the day. After spending a staggering £30,000 on rehab and countless detox trips, she finally sought help from Alcoholics Anonymous in 2013.
It wasn’t easy. She struggled to attend meetings until a particularly bad detox in 2019 changed everything. At a child’s birthday party, she blacked out, prompting an ambulance call.
That moment was a wake-up call. Looking in the mirror, she saw the toll alcohol had taken on her. Determined to change, she committed to sobriety and has been sober for six years now.
Sarah is now focused on raising her daughter and helping others understand that recovery is possible. She’s rediscovered her identity and is excited about life again. “I have so much to live for,” she says, and it shows.
