Ilkeston: The former Ritz Bingo Hall is going up for auction next month. It’s been a bit of a saga, really. Several ideas for the building just didn’t pan out.

People suggested turning it into a gym, a food court, or even a Wetherspoon pub. But none of those plans came to life. So, the owners decided to sell it for £125,000.

The auction will happen on February 20 at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. The building is pretty spacious, with a large auditorium and a cafeteria. Plus, there’s a car park at the back, which is a nice bonus.

It’s got a staff office, cloakroom, and a few other rooms too. The property is right in the heart of town, next to some local businesses.

Erewash Borough Council had tried to get funding to turn it into a food court, but that didn’t work out. The auctioneers believe the building has potential, but any new plans will need planning permission.

When the council looked into repurposing it, they found some damage from neglect and vandalism. They had plans to repair and restore it, but those didn’t go through either.
