Southport: A father’s quick action may have saved lives. Axel Rudakubana was about to catch a cab to his old school. His dad, Alphonse, saw him and ran out to stop him.

The footage shows Alphonse pleading with the taxi driver. Axel, dressed in a green hoodie and mask, got out of the cab and went back home. It’s chilling to think what could have happened if his dad hadn’t intervened.

Just a week later, Axel committed a horrific act, killing three young girls at a dance class. He had called for the taxi to Range High School in Formby, Merseyside, right before the summer break.

Before this, Axel had a troubled history at school. He was suspended for bringing a knife and had other alarming incidents. His parents seemed unaware of his plans that day.

On that tragic day, he wore the same outfit as before. Sadly, he went on to murder Alice, Bebe, and Elsie, all young girls. Axel, who has autism spectrum disorder, had left his previous school for specialized learning.

Originally from Cardiff, his family moved to Banks, Lancashire, about ten years ago. Neighbors described them as an ordinary family, making this tragedy even more shocking.
